A man and a woman went to court disputing over custody of their child. The Judge asked the woman to rise and argue her case. The woman began, “Your honor, I have carried this child for nine months, I went through labor pains, and I breastfed her for two years. I am the one who wakes up in the middle of the night to soothe her, and I am the one who takes her to school every day. I believe I am the most qualified to have custody of her.” The judge nodded in agreement and then asked the man to present his case. The man stood up and said, “Your honor, if you put a dollar into a vending machine and a soda comes out, who does the soda belong to? The vending machine or you?” The judge paused for a moment and then said, “I suppose it would belong to me.” The man replied, “Exactly, your honor. So, since I paid for the child support, doesn’t the child belong to me?”
